The zombies that had chased them out from the village were still all wandering along the road. There were also several puddles of fresh human blood on the road because of the previous battle between the two teams.
The zombie circled around the bloodstains on the road several times but couldn’t find any of the humans. Yet still, they swayed and wobbled as they wandered around, hoping to find someone alive.
Some zombies were walking towards the farmhouse, so it was just a matter of time before the two sides would meet.
On that street, there were over a hundred zombies just walking to and fro, it was a very scary sight.
Geng Yan and his party went out and began to kill the zombies.
Their various abilities all flew out at the same time. Meanwhile, all the zombies ran over according to their base instinct, while those that had abilities also started attacking with their abilities.
All sorts of abilities fiercely collided in the air, bursting to become a gorgeous and dazzling radiance!
Under a superficial glance, it was just like a rain of fireworks at a low altitude, but it actually contained a terrifying power that only those present would know.
As most of the zombies were just ordinary zombies, they would quickly fall after a blow to explode their heads. However, because of the sheer number of ordinary zombies, within a short period, they were still everywhere.
Rather it was those zombies that held abilities who got Geng Yan’s special treatment and went back to being regular corpses one after another. Their numbers rapidly decreased.
Ji Anran pulled the crossbow and accurately exploded the head of an ordinary zombie.
Yet, just as he was using his ability to monitor the movements in his surroundings, he actually found something peculiar— there was a zombie with a wind-type ability, whose level was even higher than his!
Ji Anran was astounded. Then, just as he was about to open his mouth to give everyone a warning, he saw a blade of wind suddenly condense and proceeded to sweep across the road like a sharp giant blade[1].
This giant blade was more than three meters long, and as it swept by, some of the zombies - who hadn't been able to dodge in time - also got cut through at the waist!
"A rank 3 zombie with a wind-type ability!" Ji Anran blurted out.
As a strong wind-type ability user, Ji Anran knew better than anyone else about the power of each level of the wind ability. The only way as huge of a wind blade as this could be formed was if the user’s ability was already at the third level.
Gao Xun's heart missed a beat and even his hands shook a bit from the scare.
"We’ve run into a big boss this time?!"
Geng Yan’s expression was grave. "Don't worry, I'm also at third-rank. Everyone, listen to my instructions. Anran, Wei Yanhua, Rushui, you guys will be responsible for cleaning up the other zombies. Zhou Liang and Gao Xun, you two will support me in attacking this wind-type zombie."
Although the entire area in front of their eyes were zombies, the zombies didn’t have any awareness to cooperate with their attacks. The powerful zombie’s ability also wasn’t a psychic-type, so there was no way for it to control the other zombies. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have directly cut down all the zombies that were in its way just now.
Although zombies wouldn’t die as long as their heads weren’t blown off, the speed and attack power of these zombies were still greatly lowered as they could only drag the remaining half of their bodies, crawling on the ground towards them. For the team of ability users, this was nonetheless a good thing.
"Gao Xun, attack his left side! Zhou Liang..."
For the first time, Geng Yan didn’t look for an opportunity to check up on Ji Anran's situation.
Because he knew in his heart that the greatest threat here was this wind-type zombie and as long as it’s gone, the probability of Anran getting into an accident would be greatly reduced.
"Heeeheee[2]..."
The zombie howled and deftly avoided the attacks from the three of them. As it had a wind-type ability, it was slightly faster than the other ability users.
However, the zombie didn’t continue to try and attack Geng Yan but directly ran towards the crossbow-holding Ji Anran in the back!
Dozens of willow leaves-like wind blades flew over, very densely packed, all very terrifying!
Geng Yan saw this scene when he turned back, and his heart almost stopped from the fright.
"Anran!"
Geng Yan blurted out, in fear that Ji Anran would be struck straight on in the next second and fall to the ground, unable to get back up anymore from that point onward.
Ji Anran's reacted very quickly. With a push of his foot against the ground, he quietly called upon his ability and jumped out of the way.
He managed to escape this attack. However, the wind-type zombie didn't bother to spare Geng Yan and those others behind it any attention at all, instead, continued to run towards Ji Anran at full speed. Within its turbid and bloodshot eyes, a difficult to describe trace of desire and longing gleamed.
"This zombie actually has wisdom!" Gao Xun was very surprised.
He thought that the zombie could see that Ji Anran was the weakest in the team and deliberately chose to attack their weakest link.
However, Ji Anran was very clear in his heart that the other had noticed his movements when he had secretly used his ability to investigate the situation of their surroundings earlier. And it was because the zombie had been doing the same thing at that moment that they just happened to run onto each other.
As the rest of the team all obviously used various other types of abilities to attack, then, of course, the one most likely to be the wind-type ability user would be the chap with the crossbow.
So after he went and used his ability to dodge the attack, the zombie in front of him was now completely certain.
Ji Anran directly broke into a run as he continued to ponder how to fight back.

Although this third-rank zombie already started to have wisdom, its intellect still wasn’t very high. If it was a fourth-rank zombie, it would have been even more intelligent. Instead of just staring directly at Ji Anran the entire time, it would deliberately continue pulling feints as it waited for an opportunity to strike and kill Ji Anran!

On the road, dozens of zombies were still wandering along.
But amid this sea of blood and all the piled-up corpses, Geng Yan pulled Ji Anran into a fierce and desperate hug, almost as if wanting to merge the other into his own flesh and blood!
[1] The ‘blade’ in wind blade references a blade/edge of a knife or a sword. Meanwhile, the latter ‘blade’ references a razor blade.
[2] I mostly believe it’s sound effects… But, the dictionary also has it as ‘brilliant/impressive/outstanding’ which I don’t think anyone would have the time to say.
