Geng Yan had lost a bit of his control over his emotions as he was worried about losing Ji Anran.
Ji Anran felt a ripple go through his heart, then he pushed Geng Yan away and raised his crossbow to continue his attacks.
"Geng-ge, you go hurry and absorb some nuclei first. I'll hold them back here in the meantime." Ji Anran pulled to protect Geng Yan behind him, the tension in his expression need not be mentioned.
It was only then that Geng Yan finally recovered from that alarmingly dangerous episode from just now. He then quickly took out all the remaining thunder-type crystal nuclei from his space, absorbing them all. After recovering a bit of his strength back, Geng Yan again reentered the battle.
“Everyone else, continue attacking. Zhou Liang, you go dig the crystal nuclei out for everyone to recharge,” Geng Yan ordered.
The zombies came wave after wave, and this battle lasted for over an hour before it finally ended.
The clothes of all the team members were already soaked with sweat while their faces weren’t an exception and were covered with beads of sweat as well.
"It's over, at last."
Gao Xun was so dead tired that he just directly sat down on the ground.
Geng Yan laughed in spite of himself and took out some chairs, water, towels, and various other items for the team.
Ji Anran sat on a bench and leaned to the side, ending up leaning softly against Geng Yan's shoulder.
"Geng-ge, thank you for saving me just now." Ji Anran had a sweet smile on his lips.
If it weren’t for the fact that he was worried that he might be rejected in front of so many people, he might have proposed to devote his life and body (in marriage) as repayment[1].
But he knew in his heart that Geng-ge was a very stubborn person, and it would be very difficult to change his mind about something he had already made a decision on. Geng-ge belonged to that type of a person who would silently pretend to be somebody with more money than sense[2] rather than get back together unless there was really no alternative.
"We are a team, so no matter whether it was on an emotional level or on one of reason, I should still have saved you." Geng Yan stared at Ji Anran while the unease in his heart became more and more intense.
Today's events brought upon him a great impact. How he wished he could immediately sprout a pair of wings and fly back to the base with Ji Anran so he can leave the other safely there, even if he had to tie the other person up.
It was truly just too dangerous outside the base. It wasn’t a joke that one may lose their life at any moment.
Ji Anran didn't know what Geng Yan was thinking about. His brain was like paste right now and he couldn’t think of a plan at all.
That third-rank wind type crystal nucleus would definitely fall into Geng-ge’s possession, but how would he be able to get it from the other without revealing his own ability?
He wouldn’t have to go and try to steal it right?
After a short rest, Geng Yan brought everyone else to retrieve all the rest of the nuclei left in the corpses.
By the time that everything was finished, the sky was already beginning to darken, so everyone decided to just head back to the farmhouse to rest.
After changing into a pair of clean sleepwear, Ji Anran directly laid on the bed, then closed his eyes, planning to go to sleep.
Then there was a sudden dip to the side and the sheet was also tugged, it was Geng Yan getting into bed.
His sweetheart was lying right next to him, but there wasn’t a ripple at all in Ji Anran's heart as he continued to lay there like a salted fish.
After all, he had already shared a bed with Geng Yan plenty of times since the start of the apocalypse, but Geng Yan had acted frigidly every single time. Over time, Ji Anran also got used to it.
So he could only take it as if he was sleeping next to an inflatable doll, in that case, what other kinds of reaction could he have?
This time, however, Geng Yan acted a bit differently than before.
He stretched out his hands and took the initiative to pull Ji Anran into his arms.
The originally sleepy Ji Anran was immediately stupefied and he quickly opened his eyes.
"Geng-ge, you..."
Geng Yan hugged Ji Anran even tighter. "Sleep, don’t bother about me. What happened today was just too stimulating, I just need to unwind a bit."
This time, no matter what, he will definitely leave Anran in the base!
Ji Anran had originally still wanted to say something, but he was just so sleepy that he simply closed his eyes and fell asleep.

[2] Raw: 冤大头 [yuān dà tóu] describes somebody who is a “spendthrift and foolish” or somebody with “more money than sense.” Essentially referring back to the part where Geng Yan keeps saying that he can take care of Ji Anran for the rest of his life, without needing the other to do anything at all in return.
[3] Raw: 剪不断理还乱 [jiǎn bù duàn lǐ hái luàn] a phrase used to describe a situation or a relationship, implying that the situation is “helpless and chaotic,” i.e. “complicated.” In terms of relationships, it implies that the relationship is one that is difficult to end (or let go of), while at the same time, the nuances within are messy and chaotic (which wouldn’t be easy to explain or clean away).
