Geng Yan couldn't hear exactly what Ji Anran was humming, but had he heard, he would have turned to look speechlessly up at the dark clouds in the sky.
This was also intentional on Ji Anran’s part. He didn't want to be heard clearly, but he also couldn't suppress his good mood, so he made this compromise.
Wearing white casual wear with his small arms and feet, he seemed unable to last even one hit. At the same time, his delicate little face was white and tender, very pure and cute.
On his face was even with a smile with a touch of unworldliness, while his eyes were clear and bright.
On the square of the trade fair, people were densely packed everywhere with voices mingling into a racket, appearing bustling with excitement - super lively.
Those who were setting up stalls had long registered with their respective bases and had arrived half an hour ago to set them up.
Wandering around alone, Ji Anran was carrying a big backpack, exchanging nuclei here and there.
But Ji Anran was just too conspicuous, just like a lamb that had accidentally wandered into the midst of a pack of wolves. Of course though, with that crossbow giving off a metallic sheen in his hand, he didn’t look as good of an idea to provoke anymore.
Still, the people at the trade fair continued to whisper on the side, trying to figure out Ji Anran’s background.
There were no shortages of opportunists at the trade fair, who would simply wait for others to buy their things as they investigate the other party’s strength and economic ability, then finally look for a chance to make their move.
"There are still people at this time who dare to come out here to the trade fair alone? Is that someone strong from your base?"
"You mean that man with the crossbow? He’s in an affair with a strong ability user of our base, the type that lived directly in the other's home. Some people say that he’s just a plaything, while others say that he must be the true love. Who knows."
"I heard that he’s very good with the crossbow, highly accurate. As for anything else, I’m not too sure."
"Do you think he’s deliberately fishing? I heard that he joined a strong team. At that time, we’ll be facing a whole team of such high combat power, we won’t be able to manage."
At the fair, only a few people dare to walk around alone, and they are all in the eyes of those who want to. As for how to think about it, whether or not to do one vote is another matter.
Both bases had sent out personnel to form a management and public security team for the market, who were constantly patrolling. Each of the long, long streets were also stationed with two people - one on each end. If any situation were to happen, they would immediately move out and act.
On the one hand, the formation of the security team was to maintain the order of the trade fair, but on the other hand, it was also to prevent the other base from play any lousy tricks - going both ways
As the zombie wave was just around the corner, all ability holders hope to enhance their own strength in time causing the exchange of crystal nuclei to be exceptionally important. So even though this may attract the attention of some with ill intentions, many people still went around the stalls to exchange nuclei with the various stall owners.
However, for safety's sake, everyone would travel as a group or at least paired.
"How many wind-type nuclei do you have here in your stall?" Ji Anran asked.
The stall owner lazily raised an eye. "25 pieces. Must be exchanged with earth-type nuclei, I won’t take anything else."
The stall owner was someone from Xiwang Base and so wasn’t familiar with who was who from Chenxi Base. Seeing how smooth-skinned Ji Anran was, he directly assumed the other was someone who sold s★x and so didn't take him seriously at all.
He felt that Ji Anran definitely didn’t have that many crystal nuclei in his hands, let alone the fact that he only accepted earth-type nuclei.
Ji Anran directly took out the nuclei from his backpack, counted them, then handed them to the stall owner.
"I'll take those 25 wind-type nuclei."
The stall owner immediately raised his head, staring at the bag of crystal nuclei in Ji Anran's hand with a burning gaze.
"Do you need any other kinds of nuclei? I also have..."
"No need, I only need wind-type crystal nuclei." After getting the nuclei, Ji Anran put them into his backpack, not at all in a hurry to absorb them.
As everyone in the team had gone off to busy themselves with private affairs as soon as they got back to the base, Ji Anran had yet to see them since. So at present, only Geng Yan knew about the matter that Ji Anran was a dual-ability holder.
Meanwhile, Ji Anran didn’t have any plans to reveal this ability of his here at the trading market, so he was still playing dumb for the time being.
Ji Anran strolled and exchanged along the way. He had brought a lot of crystal nuclei, however, as the market had only opened not too long ago, there were a lot of stalls still in stock, so it was relatively easy to exchange them.
Geng Yan had finished his own trading much earlier on and had been secretly following to keep an eye on Ji Anran. After all, the thunder-type nuclei were rather rare, so oftentimes, as soon as he says the word ‘thunder’, the stall owner would already say they didn’t have any.
It seems that Anran was trying to fish, but having attracted so many people, what if the car flips[1]?
It was such a headache for Geng Yan.
[1] "What if the car flips?" - i.e. what if the plan falls through? Specifically countered.
