On a rare day where Cen Simiao was able to take a rest, she only got up from bed when it was almost ten o'clock. After washing up rather carelessly, without even eating breakfast, she already began to put on makeup.
She turned on her phone and then put it off to the side.
All of a sudden, she heard a knock on her door, and her hand that was in the middle of drawing her brow paused. She tilted her head, then softly asked, "Who is it?"
No one answered from the other side. A slight sound came from the doorknob, and a pair of men's slippers stepped in. Cen Simiao looked up and saw Gu Yu leaning against the doorframe with a cold expression, appearing as if he was malcontent.
She pursed her lips and continued putting on her makeup while facing the mirror. "Why didn't you go to the company today? For such a busy person to have some free time, how’d you find it worthwhile to waste it on me?"
A mocking tone in a voice tinged with laziness from having seemingly just woken up, while also a hint of coquettishness that was filled with complaint.
Gu Yu hadn’t moved from where he was. He was still wearing his pajamas with his collar laying just casually, completely unlike his seriousness from when he was at the company. Staring at Cen Simiao's back, his brows slightly furrowed, and he slowly walked over.
"I can’t compare with you in terms of being busy where even if I wanted to speak with you, I can’t even find a trace of your shadow. I specifically didn’t go today so I could see you.” Facing Cen Simiao while leaning against the vanity, he lowered his eyes to look at her.
Cen Simiao threw him a glance and a mocking smile climbed up on her lips.
Suddenly, there was a sudden heat on the back of her hand as Gu Yu held it while his chin was against her clavicle. His warm breath fell upon her neck as he looked at the two people within the mirror.
His eyes were curved. "Don't be cold. Smile a bit?"
Then he gently held her hand as he continued to draw her eyebrows.
Cen Simiao’s eyelashes lowered. "Ge."
He hummed softly in response next to her ear.
Then he heard her pose another question. "Do you like me very much?"
Gu Yu's eyes were serious as he concentrated on drawing her brows, then with a free hand, he gently rubbed the edge of the brow. Following which, while looking at her, he answered, "Yes."
His tone was very ambiguous, and he soon added in a low voice, "I am older than you by several years, so naturally, I have to take good care of you."
There was a fit of sudden anger within Cen Simiao’s eyes, and her body tensed, which she could only barely suppress. Then in a cold voice, she stated, "Let go."
Gu Yu released his hand, then with a smile still on his lips, he leaned close to her ear: "Come downstairs after you’ve finished tidying up, I’ll accompany you to go shopping. Be good."
The warmth next to her ear disappeared, then scattered gentle footsteps sounded from behind up until the door closed. Cen Simiao pursed her lips as she looked towards her phone. The screen was already black.
After unlocking it again...
It displayed that she had been in a voice call with An Zeru for 15 minutes.
He had just hung up.
Cen Simiao typed in a few words: 【Something came up, I won’t be able to go with you today.】
Even after waiting for a while, there was still nothing from the other side.
An Zeru just sat on the sofa, staring at the phone with a frown on his face. He had gotten up early, tidied himself up perfectly, and had just been waiting until it was time to pick up Cen Simiao.
But then, the phone rang, and after he answered the phone, without him even having the chance to speak, what sounded from the other side seemed off.
He rubbed his hair, then suddenly, his phone vibrated. After opening it, he saw that it was a message from Cen Simiao.
It was the location of a mall.
After Cen Simiao finished her makeup, she picked out a milk tea-colored dress, which made her appear slim and fair. In no hurry, she went downstairs and deliberately ignored Gu Yu as she went to pour some water.
Contrarily, he was very enthusiastic, and after seeing her come downstairs, a glimmer of surprise flashed through his eyes. He stood up and walked to her side, then asked softly and gently, "Where else do you want to go play aside from shopping?"
Cen Simiao didn't bother to look at him and continued to drink her water, facing him with her back. Gu Yu persevered and stepped in front of her again, though the smile on his lips had flattened a bit. "Don't be mischievous, tell me where you want to go today?"
Cen Simiao was already impatient and had just started to frown when she suddenly noticed the figure standing at the stairway. Her eyelashes trembled, and she placed the cup back on the table.
Raising her head slightly, her expression, which had been cold and indifferent just now, at this time, reflected a hint of embarrassment while her eyes had a trace of shyness. Her eyes slightly widened, as if she wanted to refute something.
Gu Yu was stunned for a moment when suddenly she came over and whispered in his ear. However, he couldn’t quite hear what she said clearly and only felt that his ears itched. He subconsciously tilted his head and bumped the tip of Cen Simiao's nose.
After which he heard her light laughter, full of cunning but with a trace of delicateness.
Father Gu, who was standing at the foot of the stairs, took all of this in with his eyes. His brows were locked in a frown, and he was full of anger. When she backed away, Cen Simiao pursed her lips and glanced at Gu Yu. "Look at what time it is already, are we still going?"
Gu Yu had yet to react at that moment and was still in a daze.
At the entrance to the shopping mall, Cen Simiao paid careful attention and took a look around, but didn’t see An Zeru. Ah, this should be... After these past few days, it should’ve been about time[1].
