After finishing her bath, she randomly walked past the shoe cabinet and saw that Father Gu’s leather shoes were there.

Her hands that were drying her hair paused as she looked towards the room upstairs. So he’s home... She went to get her phone from her purse, and as expected, there were several missed calls from Gu Yu.

As she climbed the stairs, she got ready to call the other side. But before she was even able to dial the other’s number, a ringtone already sounded from her phone.

Cen Simiao’s eyes smiled as she quickly walked a few more steps away, but she was still quite close to Father Gu’s door. "Ge."

Her tone was soft but still sounded a bit of a young woman’s spoiled tantrum. On the other side, Gu Yu was anxious and just wanted to know what was going on, but he still became stunned after being called by her in such a tone.

Then he coldly asked, "Where have you run off to?"

Having turned the volume of the phone to the max, she hummed in affirmation before answering, "I didn't go anywhere. He sent me home."

"Went home?" Full of doubts.

Cen Simiao then took a few steps towards the door before asking in a soft, naive voice, "Yeah, I'm at home. Who knows what he’s thinking... Ge, when will you be back? Such a rarity that you’re not busy today."

The other side replied, "I'm heading back now."

She smiled very sweetly.

When Gu Yu arrived home, the first person he saw wasn’t Cen Simiao, but Father Gu who had a solemn face and even anger on his brows as the other pursed his lips tight, who gave Gu Yu a round of difficulties using the excuse of business matters.

After giving Gu Yu a full scolding, the other even reminded Gu Yu not to forget where he came from and telling him to take a clear look at where he was now.

Gu Yu's face paled and only when Father Gu finally left, did his stiff body begin to tremble. His eyes were full of resentment.

Cen Simiao was upstairs, pasted to her door with her eyes narrowed until she finished hearing everything. These two people, one wanted to have the reputation of having a son while the other wanted wealth, placing them next to each other, how complementary.

If one wanted to stir up trouble between them, it was actually not very simple. But Gu Yu was too greedy and even wanted to involve her in his schemes... It wasn’t the case that Father Gu loved or was concerned about his daughter, he was just afraid that if Gu Yu became his son-in-law, he would lose his only “son.”

But this wasn’t something he could just directly say, even though Gu Yu was currently living in the Gu family without a proper status, where, even in the eyes of the law and outsiders, he had nothing to do with this family. It wasn’t something he would directly admit even if the most others would say was just the sentence: ‘Ah Gu Yu has good fortune.’

And have the blessing of being a successor.

That simply just wouldn’t do for Father Gu, so he had to pretend to be dazed and stupid, just to keep his old face.

Cen Simiao went downstairs to get ice cream, feeling particularly carefree. But when she passed by Father Gu’s door, she could hear the quarreling between a man and woman inside, along with the sound of crying.

Outside, the rain was becoming heavier, and one could see the splashes as the rain landed through the French windows.

An Zeru stopped his motorcycle in front of the bar’s entrance but didn’t get down. Placing just one foot on the ground, he felt for his pack of cigarettes and pulled one out to hold between his fingertips before it was instantly soaked by the rain.

With a ‘tsk’, he just casually landed his hand on the front of the motorcycle, honking the horn a few times.

A moment later, a man of similar age rushed out from inside. Upon seeing An Zeru, his eyes widened into saucers as he held an umbrella. "F★ck, where did your raincoat run off to? To even have your arms bare in this heavy rain."

An Zeru was playing with a lighter in his hand, but it wouldn’t light up even after a few tries. There was an evident hint between his brows that he was rather pleased when he glanced towards the speaker, he then pulled out a raincoat and threw it over.

The man quickly pulled it on and went to the front of the motorcycle, ready to get the key to drive it away while he murmuring, "What on earth did you smoke, to have a raincoat and not wear it but go bare..."

An Zeru was completely drenched by the rain, and his hair was plastered to his forehead, which lessened arrogance and increased his elusiveness. He raised his chin and responded a "I was happy to do so."
