The faucet in the bathroom had broken, leaking water to drip all over the floor, even seeping out from the crack at the bottom of the door reaching the living room. Cen Simiao looked down at her wet slippers which were stepping on the now soggily wet floor.

She unlocked her cell phone and made a call.

"Duuduuduu—"

It continued to ring for a long time but still, no one picked up. She pursed her lips and turned her head, seeing the sunshine that was outside the window, which prickled the eye.

The curtains were a rich brown and felt rather weighty when in hand. With a pull, it slid close and the room darkened. The water had already flooded all the way here, and her feet were already wading in the cold water. Cen Simiao frowned.

Her eyes revealed the grievances she was feeling, her head was lowered, making her chin appear quaint. Next to her was the sofa, so she conveniently sat down, pulling her legs up as well as her fingers continued brushing against the screen of her phone.

The main page of Wu Sushen's Weibo.

The profile picture was of half his face, wide eyes with double-eyelids, where the black and whites of the eyes were very clearly defined, carrying a tenderness within the gaze. A true pair of peach blossom eyes. The identity has been verified, an actor of Qingyao Studio.

En, the top half of the face isn’t bad.

Then scrolling down...

So tired today~~

The accompanying picture showed his dozing countenance, with an arm on the table propping his chin up.

Hurry, hurry! Praise me for being handsome! Otherwise, I'll be unhappy!

Which was accompanied by a picture of a night view of the city.

Cen Simiao's eyes slightly narrowed. Biting the side of her lips, she lightly cleared her throat, and her shoulders sank. Just as she was about to sigh, her phone started to ring.

"Husband calling."

Her eyes instantly reddened, and her entire being softened until it was as if she was a little white rabbit locked in a cage. She slid her finger across the screen, then held the phone next to her ear, carrying a hint of a soft cry.

"Hello."

The other side had already been impatient but paused after hearing this tone - as if they didn’t know how to react - and the rhythm of their breathing also became destabilized. All until Cen Simiao again spoke, "Where are you? I'm really just useless, I can't do anything well."

With a bit of doubt: "Miaomiao?"

"En." She sniffled.

Hu Yinli was particularly surprised. How would she typically ever act like this, it had always been the case where she would solve everything by herself, such that even if he hadn't stayed at home for a year, it hadn’t been a problem.

What was going on today? The sound of Cen Simiao's sobbing was soft and sticky, which seemed to have some ambiguities mixed within, leading him to subconsciously lower his voice, becoming gentler, "What happened?"

The eyes of the woman in his arms, who was drawing her fingertips carelessly across his chest, constricted. She then moved her arms to hug around his waist, nuzzling him with her face, her eyes glimmering as if they were water.

Hu Yinli’s throat tightened. Listening to the voice on the other side of the phone on one end while being stroked on the other, his breathing gradually turned heavy.

Cen Simiao started sobbing even harder. "I didn't take care of the house well enough. The faucet is broken. I found someone to come repair it, but they haven't arrived yet. Now the house is full of water, what do I do?"

"I'm so useless."

Raising her head, she casually grabbed the bottle of yogurt from the coffee table. Taking off the cap, she then covered the phone and drank several mouthfuls before continuing to sniffle. "I'm so stupid, I can't even manage such a little thing."

Hu Yinli breathed a sigh of relief. "How is this something to cry about, it’s okay, I'll call Property Management. Don't be afraid. This is nothing, don't cry."

"But... But, the floor."

Cen Simiao glanced at the curtain that had become soaked with water, the original brown had turned to dark brown, appearing rather dirty. The tassels of the curtains were now all sticking together, she reached out a hand to give them a squeeze.

Water dripped out from between her fingers.

From the phone: "So what if the floor is damaged, I'll send you the money, you can choose one that you like to buy."

Cen Simiao narrowed her eyes for a second, then looked at the time. "How long do you still have to be busy for? Come back and keep me company?"

Sure enough, the other side hung up in a hurry.

She got up from the sofa and walked over to the bedroom door in her slippers, kicking away the disgusting towel that had been stuffed into the bottom gap of the door, then went in to choose clothes from the wardrobe.

The makeup was already finished. Much earlier in the morning, she drew her brows and did her eyes, even having to redo her eyeliner several times before she finally felt satisfied. Her hair was curled with a curling iron, then arranged to the back, leaving two chin-length fringes to frame her face that was split in the middle.

She felt a bit at a loss, so as it was still early, she sat on the sofa and had zoned out for a while. By the time she came back to herself, there was already water under her feet.

Frowning, she had gone to find the main water valve to shut it off as she would be heading out later and this wouldn’t be able to wait for someone to come for the repair.

As soon as she finished changing, her phone received a message on WeChat.

Cen-jie, all the dishes have already been served.

Cen Simiao lowered her eyes and laughed, finding it to be quite interesting, that sure enough the other had a background in acting and so could use such connotative choice of words. She didn’t type back but sent a voice message instead.

The voice was crisp but gentle.

"If the dish doesn’t look appetizing, I might not eat."

……

In the dining room of the private kitchen, the decor had quite a traditional-antiquated aesthetic. The red sandalwood tables and chairs, the teapots and teacups, all of them seemed to have been very carefully chosen. The ashtray on the tables was also bronze, engraved with a person holding a wine cup lying drunkenly.

"If the dish doesn’t look appetizing, I might not eat."

Just by listening to this tone and these words, one wouldn’t be able to find any faults but would even lead them to feel that it was a bit cold. Wu Lichen held a pack of cigarettes as he tapped impatiently on the table.

He leaned back in his chair and ruffled his hair as he yawned, seeming particularly sleepy. He asked Liu Si, who was typing on his phone screen, "Liu-ge, where did you find such a person? It’s as if she’s s★xually frigid."

Liu Si typically dressed quite fashionably, but today in order to avoid attention, he had already tried to be very low-key. He had taken off his large exaggerated earrings, leaving only the stubs behind, and even the shoes have been replaced with a popular but common pair.

Raising his eyes to look up at Wu Lichen, he reproached, "What nonsense are you going on about? Such a good person, others wouldn’t even be able to get the opportunity if they begged. Not even taking a good look at the types that are around other people, yet you’re still not content."

Wu Lichen frowned and moistened his lips with the tip of his tongue, still feeling unbearably stuffy. Knocking the pack of cigarettes on the table, a few of them peeked out, to which he pulled one.

Holding it in his mouth, he was just about to light it.

"She doesn't like the smell of cigarettes. Don't mess around."

His movements froze for a second, then Wu Lichen threw the cigarette aside, and lazily stretched his back as he looked towards the door. "So d★mn troublesome."

Liu Si just so happened to have time when he heard this, so he raised his head to look at the other. He put his mobile phone on the table, then took the teapot to pour himself a cup of tea. Wu Lichen's gaze drifted about, who knew what he was looking at.

His throat was moistened by the tea. "If you find it too troublesome, you can take a taxi back now. I'll cover the fare."

If Cen Simiao hadn’t chosen Wu Lichen, how would he have the other come? There has never been a lack of good-looking faces and strong solid bodies in the entertainment circles.

There were six or seven artists under Liu Si's management. Although Wu Lichen was the most handsome out of them, if one didn’t know how to deal with people in this circle, one just wouldn’t be able to gain much popularity. So he more or less was almost padding the bottom of the group.

Moreover, he had a seriously ill younger brother in his family, who lived in the hospital year-round, so his expenses were particularly high. Most of Wu Lichen's money was tied up in that, so there was no way for him to spend much on dressing himself up in private.

The style wasn’t bad, but there was nothing good to speak of when discussing the brand.

Even today's outfit was bought with Liu Si's own money.

Wu Lichen lowered his eyes, the corners of his lips quirked into a smile. When he raised his eyes again, the previous irritation could no longer be seen and his tone was calm, "Liu-ge, aren’t I just taking the chance that only you are here to grumble a bit. My skin isn’t so thick that I would try to act clever after getting the benefits.”

The two of them had deliberately staggered the time of their arrival and Cen Simiao’s. Although Wu Lichen wasn’t that well-known, they were still afraid of the possibility of being secretly photographed. So they’ve already waited here for two hours.

Liu Si was the first to hear the knock on the door, and immediately his gaze sharpened, then the corners of his mouth curled up, his face became amiable and friendly. He hurriedly went to open the door, but just as he was about to open his mouth to call out ‘Cen-jie’, he became stunned.

On the top half, Cen Simiao was wearing a loose black v-neck blouse that set off her fair complexion well with a choker; as for her bottom, it was a black skirt fitted about the hips with high slits.

Dressed in full black, her makeup was particularly gorgeous, the color of her lips bright. All combine to make her entire person appear particularly sexy.

This was a different style of dress from what Liu Si had seen last time, it had changed completely. In the past, the attire was simple and natural, and the makeup had been light.

He still had yet to manage a reaction. Cen Simiao’s lips curled into a smile. "Liu-ge?"

But from where would Liu Si be able to find the courage to accept this address ‘Liu-ge’? For those that were able to find and contact him like this, which one wasn’t a rich master to be catered to? He finally returned to his senses and immediately put back on a face of smiles. "This, I don't dare, just call me Xiao Liu. Cen-jie, hurry and take a seat. It’s only been a few days but you’ve become more beautiful again.”

Cen Simiao had just sat on the chair and was watching the other pour her tea with a smile when the phone in her bag rang.

She took it out and unlocked it.

Husband calling.

She switched the phone to silent mode then locked back up the screen before putting it down on the table. But just after exchanging a few words, the phone screen again lit up. Seeing this, Liu Si: “If there’s something going on, you can take care of it first.”

Cen Simiao looked at the phone, then flipped back over the cover and closed the phone case.

Liu Si smiled, but there was a bit of a sinking feeling in his heart. Cen Simiao hasn't even given Wu Lichen a glance since she came in, was she going back on her words?

Then suddenly, Wu Lichen started to speak.

"Having been in such a hurry this morning, there wasn’t really even a chance to eat. The food here isn’t bad, would Cen-jie like to give it a taste?"

Cen Simiao glanced at him. Wu Lichen was sitting on the chair with a leisurely expression but his gaze was serious with a faint tenderness. It really was consistent with the profile picture on Weibo.

A pair of peach blossom eyes.

A tall nose bridge but thin lips, when the corners of his mouth quirk up, it simply seemed as if he had a bellyful of bad tricks.

She raised an eyebrow. "How old[big] are you?"

“25.”

Wu Lichen gave a brief glance at Liu Si, who had answered for him, then curled his lips. "18."

YinYue has something to say:

Main advice for this novel: Read this like how you would read a script for a manga/manhua/manhwa.

The raw novel doesn't flow well, at all. I will try my best to smooth things out. So please do understand that while the translation would keep everything that was originally there, there would still be heavy editing so the result is readable.

One comment of an original reader that I saw on jjwxc had put it quite nicely: "I can understand every individual character[word] but when they are put together, I have trouble understanding."

The raw itself is similar to what one would get from an unedited MTL translation. Unfortunately, this does not mean we can apply MTL again and it becomes understandable.

So I ask for your understanding. And I request that if you really do get confused in the process, feel free to leave a comment, so I may try and detangle.

As for this chapter, the punchline is at the beginning and end. I tried to make it very clear and obvious. Again, ask when confused is the motto for this novel. Maybe that would help. No guarantees though.
