A strong gale was passing through Zuoxin Street such that even a tree had been uprooted from the ground. It laid in the middle of the road with wet, dark soil still clinging to its roots as it blocked the many cars hoping to pass on this street.
Hu Yinli sat in the driver's seat, honking the horn with all his might.
Meanwhile, in the passenger seat next to him was Xu Senni holding a small mirror to touch up her lipstick; the mirror reflecting her white teeth and her thin pair of lips. The applied scarlet lipstick gave off a full-bodied aura, but her facial features were weak and bland in comparison, making it difficult for her to really pull off the look.
Looking up to take a look at the situation in front, the cars were still jammed up, unable to move even an inch. The person beside her was still honking the horn with his cufflinks undone, sleeves pulled up and his brows locked in a frown.
She lowered back her eyes, started to carefully look over her makeup again while whispering, "It’s useless to worry over this now, rather, you’ll just make yourself even more upset."
Hu Yinli was very anxious and turned his head to see the cars on both sides. "What do you know, this contract is crucial. If we miss the time, it’ll become very troublesome."
Xu Senni paused, then stored back the lipstick and capped it, putting it back in her bag. She then took out a cotton swab, cleaning up the edges as she spoke.
"Yinli, what are you being so fierce to me for?"
Her tone was flat. Hu Yinli was subconsciously about to get angry but when he turned his head, he saw her with her lips pursed with sorrow in her eyes, exuding a sense as if she was deeply aggrieved.
And so in a flash, Hu Yinli lost all his pent-up anger.
Without his notice, Xu Senni’s lips curved up. He has been acting really abnormal these days. At home, he would always be holding onto his phone, but as soon as she got close, he would change it to a news app.
In the past, hadn’t he always just kept hugging her without letting go?
One time, Hu Yinli was negligent as he went to take a shower, so Xu Senni had the opportunity to take a look at his phone, the screen was opened to his conversation page with Cen Simiao. And all the messages were from his own initiative, where Cen Simiao either replied with an ‘en’, or she wouldn’t reply until an hour later.
Xu Senni's gaze hardened. She wants to see just how Cen Simiao plans to pull him back.
On the other side, Cen Simiao has been extremely busy recently.
Go do spas, go get massages, go shopping at the mall. Eat, drink and play.
All of which were activities that were physically consuming.
The system looked at the task’s progress bar, seeming as if wanting to say something but again stopping before actually saying anything. In any case, it was a little cute jointly developed by Jinjiang Literature City and the Underworld, so how could it be forced to become so aggrieved by its host?!
"That is… I said."
Cen Simiao cut into the steak. The meat was fresh and tender, and the sauce was just right. Biting down, the softness paired with the slightly burnt-crisped outer layer... "What?"
"It should be time to work on and finish the task, right?"
"I'm finished with it."
"Look at the progress bar!! Just take a look !" The system was indignant.
Cen Simiao: "It hasn't moved?"
The system pulled out some tears.txt, and all of a sudden, its eyes have reddened and tears started to fall, pattering down, landing on its hard drive. It’s already been so d★mn long already, yet the progress bar has only increased three percent.
Cen Simiao took a bite of broccoli and sighed.
Why was this just like raising a child?
No one's heart would be like a bottle of mineral water, clearly transparent at a glance. What's more, she has to pry open the bottle cap and add herself to the mix inside. So even if her heart were to be any more anxious, she still needed to endure it.
She needed to plan for everything.
Meanwhile, Liu-ge was earnestly giving Wu Lichen a long-winded but heartfelt speech.
Liu-ge picked up the coffee to moisten his dry throat. His head was slightly lowered and his brows twisted as he ran his hand through his dyed-yellow hair. He sighed, "You’ve been under my management for several years already, I also know your difficulties. So as soon as I got the good news this time, the first one who I thought of was you."
Wu Lichen, holding a lighter in his hand, gave a hum in response.
Liu-ge raised his eyes to look at the other. "The connection I already gave you, don't waste your chance."
Wu Lichen looked up to meet the other's eyes.
Liu-ge also didn’t continue to speak but just waited to see what the other’s intentions were.
The rest of the team were separately sitting in the other cars. Liu-ge had specifically called Wu Lichen over alone. The latter yawned, appearing confused. Liu-ge’s eyes narrowed, then all of a sudden, seemed to have realized something
"You..."
Liu-ge slapped his thigh. "I was precisely afraid that when you have to clap with your hands that your technique isn’t in place[1]."
Wu Lichen was stunned for a moment but didn't respond.
In the afternoon, the team found a hotel, planning to split the group such that there were two people to one room. Li Youyan expression turned sullen on the spot and took out his own card to get a room for himself alone.
The people at the scene could only swallow back and choke on their anger, wanting to swear but can't. One of the male singers saw the room cards in the assistant’s hand, then with a very unwilling expression, gritted his teeth and turned to leave. But just when he raised his eyes, he saw Wu Lichen.
The other was looking down at his cell phone as if what had happened had nothing to do with him.
Finally, the singer couldn't help it anymore and walked over to just a few steps away from Chen Lichen. "As someone who only has a good voice but my face isn’t up to par, I can certainly bear any hardship that comes my way. Other people though, I’m not so sure."
Wu Lichen’s attention was concentrated on his phone.
The male singer paused, then gripped the strap of his guitar bag, pulling it back up to his shoulder, snorted, and prepared to leave. But just at this time, Wu Lichen raised his head and asked, not knowing what happened, "What happened?"
"I was praising you for your good looks."
"You're okay too."
[1] … His techniques in bed?
