After the words came out of her mouth, Cen Simiao averted her eyes as she waited for the other side’s response. Wu Lichen pursed his lips lightly. From his eye expressions, he seemed to be pondering over something with his chin slightly lowered, leading the collar of his t-shirt to slip down, revealing a span of his wheat-colored skin.

He lightly chuckled, his Adam’s apple faintly trembling. "Cen-jie unexpectedly takes me to heart this much."

Cen Simao looked at him.

While his brows reflected a raffish air, his voice he spoke with was exceptionally deep and gentle.

Her gaze couldn’t help but stay on the other for a few extra moments.

F★ck those new rules.

As it had just rained, the weather was very humid; coupled with the high temperature, working outdoors was just like being in a steamer - simply move a few times and there would be a layer of sweat on one’s body.

It was all sweat on the forehead of the crew’s makeup artist, who was carrying a makeup bag in one hand while holding a brush in the other to help people touch up their face. Right after the foundation was done, it was then the eyeliner一 Truly dizzying.

Having given it their all, running back and forth for the artists, yet nobody noticed to take it to heart. Some of the actors were already aggravated from all the heat, as they rolled up the wide sleeves of the traditional costumes, ordering the assistants to fan them. The makeup artist just so happened to pass by in front at this moment, they briefly glanced at the situation and muttered a few words, the tone was rather chokeful.

Without enough staff, one person was working the job of three. The makeup artist again hurriedly went over to touch up the makeup of the male supporting actor for the next scene. Just as they ran over, the directors urging voice sounded through the loudspeaker.

At that moment, Wu Lichen was studying the script in his hand while he was chewing on a popsicle stick in his mouth. His stature was tall, so he seemed particularly awkward as he sat hunched up on the campstool. Ever since Cen Simiao appeared, his work has gradually increased.

This time’s TV drama wasn’t a big production. Here he was playing a male cannon fodder support role, stubbornly in love with the female protagonist, and in this scene, the cannon fodder’s true face would be revealed, where all the emotions from the bottom of the cannon fodder’s heart would be poured out. Therefore, it was a scene that needed to be explosive.

Ye Minchi stood there impatiently in a gauze skirt while an assistant held a UV-blocking umbrella on the side for her. Wu Lichen walked over. She gave him a quick look, paused, then cleared her voice. "Let’s start."

Ye Minchi's expression suddenly made an incredible transformation. Her body started to tremble as her eyes became full of anger as if she hated this person in front of her the most. "All these things were actually all done by you! What a vicious, poisonous heart, I really must have been blind to be fooled by you."

Wu Lichen hung his head, a bitter smile on his lips as he raised his eyes to stare at her. "I’m cruel? When have I..."

"Cut!"

The director pulled down the hat on his head. "What was that act you put on just now?"

Of course, the one being spoken of certainly wasn’t Ye Minchi.

Wu Lichen went back to look at the script while kneading his glabella. He was a hard worker, and so compared to the other supporting actors, he could be considered to be doing quite exceptional. But when placed next to Ye Minchi who was well experienced, then it simply wasn’t enough to match.

He really just couldn't seem to get into the correct state. Isn't this character just a f★cking madman?

Where would there ever be this kind of person...

And so, the second time around, he again suffered a lashing of scolding.

The director glanced at Wu Lichen, who again sat on the campstool mulling over the script, and sighed, he then pulled together the words to talk about the scene.

"Let me tell you, this character’s emotions are that of both love and hate, stubborn to the extreme. Just imagine something you hate so much that even your teeth itches, yet you still can’t fall out because of love and sentiments."

Wu Lichen pursed his lips, and the expression in his eyes was subtle.

When they tried the scene again, Ye Minchi could clearly feel the difference. She very skillfully pulled on the emotions she was supposed to express. As for Wu Lichen, when he abruptly raised his head, his eyes were full of obsession and resentment.

His chin was slightly lifted, and his tone was fleeting. "When have I ever hurt you even a fraction?"

Ye Minchi’s tone could help but weaken a few degrees. "You... With Xiu-gege and..."

"What do their lives have to do with me?" Wu Lichen’s tone gradually became stern.

"You- You-"

Wu Lichen sneered. "All you would ever think about is him, yet you wouldn’t even give me a glance. Even the last time we met, it was during the Zhongyuan Festival[1]. Meanwhile, it's now already deep into winter."

"Cen..." His throat bobbed, and he took a slight pause. "Since you once bullied me like that, naturally I had to avenge myself[2]."

Wu Lichen's gaze became fierce, as if he wanted to tear her apart. His entirety was exuding an extremely strong possessiveness. Ye Minchi felt her legs going weak, and her lines were no longer as fluid when she spoke them.

But it turned out that this suited the director's mind perfectly, who even remarked that the two of them cooperated well this time.

The few people went over to see the recorded footage, during which Wu Lichen had an expression that was rather difficult to describe with words.

During the break, he held his cell phone, swiping the screen back and forth to open WeChat. Entering into Cen Simiao’s chatroom, it was still the messages he had taken the initiative to send her last week.

A mere few words.

Only she was allowed the initiative to find him; meanwhile, the rest of the time, he wasn’t allowed to disturb her.

Wu Lichen yawned. That person’s brain is a bit poor, the money spent was enough to reserve the entire room, but she would only drink two-yuan-worth of tea[3].

With an accidental tap, he opened her WeChat moments[4].
