She had just posted a selfie taken at the entrance of an art gallery, which showed her face from the side with her eyes looking at the camera. Her eyelashes were dense, and her delicate clavicle was also revealed.
Cen Simiao deliberately didn't contact Wu Lichen these past few days. Instead, she would take and post a selfie every two days. All in hope that it might cool down his sullen stubbornness, otherwise, she would truly be just left with the dying part of the task progress bar completed.
She didn't know whether a painting was good or not, but the frames, however, were quite exquisite. Then just as she got to the second painting, she was dragged away to a store next door for dessert.
The other person’s appearance was particularly beautiful, and when the other spoke, her speech was very warm and tactful. After chatting and joking with Cen Simiao for a bit, they stepped into the store, and Cen Simiao could see the other’s eyes brighten up as she walked towards another person while waving her hand.
Cen Shimiao’s face had a very baffled expression.
Lu Qi was exceptionally affectionate as she introduced, "This is my best friend. She came here first to wait for us."
After which she then spoke to the woman who was already sitting, "We just met, beautiful, no? Her name also sounds name - ‘Cen Simao’."
The woman’s eyes curved. "Hello, I'm Xu Senni."
Cen Simiao smilingly extended out her hand. "Hello."
Sitting in the booth, drinking orange juice, her eyes were smiling while she listened as the other two chatted. However, her mind had long flown off to somewhere unknown.
They probably had specifically set up today’s stage just for her.
Cen Simiao was a bit confused.
Then Xu Senni suddenly turned the conversation around and softly asked, "Simiao, did you see any pieces that you liked? Every piece today is from a well-known exhibit."
Cen Simiao lowered her head to drink a sip of the orange juice and frowned as she recalled. Then, her eyebrows moved as her eyes smiled and she answered light-heartedly, "Which painting was your favorite? Let’s see if we’re both thinking of the same one."
Xu Senni unconsciously straightened her back and slightly raised her chin. When she answered, her words had a trace of pride, "These paintings are quite good, but my most favorite was the wild beast in the thicket. The piece was in impressionism, however..."
Cen Simiao listened to her quietly. At the beginning, she would still nod from time to time, but later on, she started acting hesitant. Xu Senni also noticed this and her voice couldn’t help but start to drop a bit. Yet who could imagine, Cen Simiao directly started to furrow her brows.
Xu Sunni's expression turned quite the ugly sight, and she simply ended the topic, "You have a different opinion?"
Cen Simiao took a deep look at her, then sighed imperceptibly and said, "It's really too difficult to meet a bosom friend on appreciating paintings."
If Xu Senni had been blind, towards these words that could go both ways, then perhaps it could’ve been considered a compliment.
Lu Qi went and gave Xu Senni a tug without batting an eye, then picked up the conversation again with another topic. Still with an unseemly expression, Xu Senni dropped in a response only a few times in between. Lu Qi's eyes drifted past her and pretended to be casual as she remarked, "Still, you’re the one who married well. Even the ring you would typically wear is already this big, let alone the wedding ring."
Xu Senni gave a light smile. "Isn’t it still just a ring. I’m not working right now, if he finds someone else outside, would it be too late for me to even cry?"
Lu Qi immediately raised her voice. "If he dares to find a little mistress, you can rest assured that I will definitely go with you to beat her."
Cen Simiao took a scoop of the ice cream.
"Has Simiao marriedmoney’s worthn Simiao nodded.
There was a bit of subtlety in Xu Senni's eyes. "How does your husband treat you?"
Cen Simiao sighed. "So busy working that he wouldn’t be at home at all."
Lu Qi frowned and spoke to her in a low voice, warning her to be careful not to let her husband mess around outside or it'll be too late to cry.
Cen Simiao suddenly opened her eyes wide, with surprise and doubt in her eyes. Lu Qi thought she didn't take it seriously and was ready to persuade her again, but then she heard the other say:
"Why should I waste that energy? It’s perfect that he’s not home. I can play until however late I want before going home, how carefree that is. Moreover, he's afraid that I will find it hard to bear, so he would give me a lot of money to buy whatever I want."
Xu Senni and Lu Qi were both rendered speechless for a good half beat.
Cen Simiao sighed again. "You two wouldn’t know, but I'm twenty-four years old and he's ten years older than me. It's quite boring when staying together. I’m precisely hoping, and looking forward to him not to come back."
Xu Senni felt her throat choke up. "But, but your husband..."
Before she could even finish with her sentence, Cen Simiao took out her purse from behind her. "Look, this is the latest design, isn't it beautiful? I bought it using his card."
"There’s also my shoes, they were quite expensive. They can’t be worn on rainy days, I only found out after ruining a pair."
Xu Senni still wanted to say something, but then Cen Simiao suddenly noticed the purse the other was carrying. "Ah~ why are you still using a design from last season?"
Xu Senni's expression was a bit stiff. "I- I liked this design and so didn’t change to a new one yet."
Cen Simiao very sincerely cut straight to the point, "A purse would have already exhausted its value after being used for two months. Your husband loves you so much, he definitely wouldn’t be able to bear seeing you suffer this frugality."
Xu Sunni dug out a large spoonful of ice cream.
