Afterward, she didn't go directly home. As it was still very early, she went to the mall and strolled around. The style of the current season’s bags seemed particularly attractive. The original owner's father had never treated her poorly in regards to money, so she took the card and just casually swiped.
Adding quite a lot of shoes and clothes to her collection.
She took out her mobile phone and found there were five missed calls. When she opened the call log, they were all from Gu Yu. She had turned her phone to silent mode just now for the interview, so she didn’t hear the calls and so had missed them.
These past few days, Cen Simiao hadn’t bothered to pay any attention to him; while Gu Yu also seemed very busy and didn't show up in front of her at all. So why would he have time to find her now?
She pursed her lips and called back.
After a few rings, the other side picked up. But before he could even speak, he heard: "What are you looking for me for? Why did you call so many times?"
The tone was extremely impatient.
Gu Yu was stunned. He moved the phone from his ear and took a look at the contact.
Meimei[1].
That seemed right...
Then heard the other side ask again, "Why aren’t you speaking? If you’re not going to say anything, I’m going to hang up."
So he quickly replied in a hurry, "Where are you? Why didn't you answer the phone just now?"
Cen Simiao: "I was busy. Did something happen for you to find me?"
Gu Yu frowned, his voice lowered slightly, and his tone became serious, "Xichen, you can't speak to me like this. I'm very worried about you."
Cen Simiao’s expression was rather wry when she heard this. The original owner had always used a sweet and soft voice towards him and followed every word he said. The result, she raised a thankless wretch. So now, she didn’t want to have any further entanglements with him. "If you don’t have anything to say, then I will hang up first."
Gu Yu restrained his expression, but his tone was still somewhat unhappy, "I’ll be waiting for you at home, I promised to make up for your birthday. Come back early."
With that, Cen Simiao only heard the sound of "——du du du."
He had hung up the phone.
It wasn’t until ten o'clock in the evening that Cen Simiao got back home. A servant opened the door for her, took the shopping bags from her hand, and murmured, "Miss, why didn't you ask the driver to pick you up? How tiring you would be after carrying so many things by yourself..."
Cen Simiao didn't speak. She just took the water that was handed over and drank two sips to quench her thirst. She walked to the living room, ready to go upstairs to her room when she heard someone call her.
Already on the third step with her arm on the handrail, she turned her head.
Gu Yu, who stood behind the dining table, wore a striped shirt with his sleeves rolled up while his lips were tightly pursed and his eyes revealed his displeasure. There was a cake on the table, decorated with a lot of strawberries and some other fruits.
It looked sweet and very delicious.
He spoke coldly, "Come down and cut the cake."
Cen Simiao's eyes fell on the cake, then immediately looked away while dropping a sentence, "I don't like to eat strawberries." She then raised her foot and got ready to leave.
Gu Yu started feeling anger. Her favorite had always been strawberries. He even had this cake custom-made for her, but when he brought it home and waited for her the entire day, what he got in exchange was this attitude.
So his tone couldn’t help becoming a bit harsh, "Gu Xichen, you’re not a three-year-old child, what are you throwing a tantrum for?"
Cen Simiao stilled her steps. Tilting her head, her expression fully reflected her bafflement.
Seeing that she was silent, Gu Yu thought that his words had hit the mark and softened his tone, "I've been too busy these past two days and hadn’t been able to make it up to you. That is my fault. If you are angry, you can come and hit me, just don't stew over it on your own.”
Cen Simiao lowered her eyelashes. When she lifted her eyes again, there was already a sense of drowsiness. "Ge, I’ve been out the entire day. Let me go back to my room first, okay?"
Gu Yu's expression stiffened, then he straightened his back and answered. When the footsteps sounded on the stairs again, he suddenly remembered. "Dad wanted me to tell you that the An family will be having a banquet. At that time, you'll have to attend, so make some preparations in the coming few days. Now go sleep."
The footsteps suddenly stopped.
He frowned and took a look.
Cen Simiao's expression at the moment seemed a bit hurt, while her eyes carried a hint of fragility. "Brother, you don’t have anything else to say?"
Gu Yu had yet to recover from this suddenness.
She took advantage of this opportunity to go downstairs and had already walked to the front of him., staring straight at him with seriousness in her eyes. "Whenever I throw a tantrum, you would never coax me."
Gu Yu was taken aback but then immediately pulled his lips into a smile and patted her head. "Nonsense."
Cen Simiao lowered her head, completely a depressed appearance. He pursed his lips and was about to say something when she reached into her bag and pulled out a plastic bottle.
"You haven't had a good rest recently, your voice is a little hoarse. This is for you." She passed him the lozenges that were a complimentary gift from her shopping today.
Gu Yu lowered his eyelashes. "Xichen..."
Cen Simiao raised her head and her eyes curved. Her smile was full of slyness, but her eyes were hurt. "Ge, won’t you accompany me to the banquet? I’ll be afraid if I were to go alone."
He had a gentle look in his eyes and appeared to have sighed in relief. "Okay."
