Wu Lichen didn’t have any scenes to be filmed in the afternoon and so had wanted to stay with Cen Simiao, but Luo Yu didn't have any awareness at all and followed them wherever they went. Finally, he even said that they would be going back to the hotel to rest, but Luo Yu directly followed up and proposed the idea of going to another place to drink and play.
Wu Lichen was still calm and collected and was just about to refuse the other when he saw that Ye Minchi had also followed over.
Cen Simiao lowered her eyes to hide the curved corners of her lips, then she cleared her throat. "Then let's go eat first, it’s about mealtime."
Along the entire way, there wasn’t an instance where Luo Yu's mouth had taken a pause, as he consistently tried to start up a conversation with Cen Simiao. Even if she had only hummed in response, Luo Yu could still draw a full conversation from it.
Then in those difficult to find moments when he really had nothing else to say, Ye Minchi would bring up a new topic, whether intentional or not.
When they got to the table, Wu Lichen first received Cen Simiao's purse before turning back around to pull a chair for her, when he ended up seeing the smiling Luo Yu ever so attentive.
"Cen-jie, please, sit here."
Wu Lichen’s brows furrowed. "Luo Yu, you’re already 28 this year, yet you’re still calling everyone ‘Jie’."
Luo Yu only continued to smile.
When they got back to the entrance of the hotel, Wu Lichen went off to buy a few bottles of water. After taking a glance at Ye Minchi and Luo Yu, he gave them both a bottle, then went to unscrew the cap. By the time he turned around, Luo Yu had already handed his opened bottle to Cen Simiao.
Wu Lichen drank the entire bottle in one breath.
Cen Simiao frowned. "What did you eat to be so thirsty?"
Wu Lichen's eyes were cold: "I'm very salty[1]."
This time, Cen Simiao entered Wu Lichen's room of her very own initiative, whereas he again went to take a shower first. A while later, the sound of water stopped, but he still had yet to come out.
Then she heard him call out: "Help me get a pair of underwear from the closet."
Cen Simiao was playing with her cell phone at the time. After hearing him, she immediately paused then sighed deeply. Even if you can't eat, taking a few glances also isn’t bad.
Inside the closet she found where the underwears were, there was only one choice in design - dark blue and striped.
She took one and went to knock on the bathroom door.
As soon as the door opened, the white water vapor flushed out, hitting her on the face. She narrowed her eyes and could only see a vague figure. Hearing the slightly hoarse, somewhat low voice, she gave a pause.
This voice doesn’t sound very right. Don't tell me he just finished rubbing.
She walked in a few steps and placed the underwear down atop the clothes rack. Just as she was about to head back out, she suddenly felt a patch of heat on her body and then, there was only the sound of water in her ears.
Her clothes became wet in an instant. The thin fabric clung to her body, outlining her curves. The tips of her hair were pasted to her neck, and drops of water slid down along her jaw to hang on her chin.
The voice behind her asked with some chagrin, "I accidentally pressed and turned on the shower. Otherwise, how about we just wash together?"
Cen Shimiao turned around and with a swing, threw a slap over at the other’s body.
Ye Minchi had already walked over early the next morning to knock on the door. When Wu Lichen opened the door, there was a surprise in her eyes. After she entered the room, she pretended to have casually scanned the room, and found there was no one.
Her eyes curved. "Lichen, what do you have planned for after this drama[2]?"
Wu Lichen sat on the sofa and asked frankly, "What’s up with Luo Yu?"
Ye Minchi became a bit embarrassed. She hadn't expected that he would be so direct, she replied with some difficulty, "I quite appreciate you, you don’t have to take this current road."
He raised his eyes.
Ye Minchi paused for a bit, then continued, "Your family’s difficulties are only temporary. If someone is willing to sincerely help you, you can pass this most difficult stretch together..."
Before she finished speaking, she took a glance at Wu Lichen.
His eyes were still smiling.
Ye Minchi dry-swallowed. "I think someone would be willing to help you."
Wu Lichen leaned against the sofa. He lifted his chin with his brows slightly furrowing and a leg propped over the other knee, then he lowered his eyes.
Ye Minchi wanted to continue, but then heard him say:
"But Cen-jie’s good-looking."
Ye Minchi was taken aback.
Wu Lichen continued to say, "I don't need a savior, I need you and Luo Yu to stay away from Cen-jie."
A few days passed in a blink of an eye, Cen Simiao had led a particularly comfortable life over at the crew and the gallery’s opening day soon arrived. Xu Senni didn't have the plan to show up at all, yet she did want to be there to see the joke.
So she hired a car and had it parked rather secretly where she could still see the gallery’s entrance.
The entrance was rather cold and empty, and the doors themselves remained tightly closed as if there was no intention of their being an opening today.
She stared at the door with her eyes wide open, then hurried to call the guests who had been invited. In the end, all of them told her that Cen Shimao had already informed them that there won’t be an opening today.
With her heart ill at ease, she called Cen Simao, who only picked up after a series of ringing.
In a sleepy voice: "Who is it, what's the matter?"
Xu Senni’s voice was very emotionally charged. "What happened, why aren’t we opening today? All the people invited said it was your idea. Why didn’t you even mention a peep of it to me!?"
Cen Simiao was laying on the sofa with her legs curled up. She rubbed her eyes. "Oh, we can’t open. All our paintings are imitations, we’ll be laughed at if we hang them out."
"You, what are you say-"
Cen Simiao turned off the phone, turned over, and went back to continue sleeping. However, the result was that she directly fell off, smash-landing on Wu Lichen who was sleeping right next to the sofa. Having been sleeping during the call, he was still in a daze even after being so abruptly shocked awake.
He fully opened his eyes. "What happened?"
There was still sleepiness in Cen Simiao’s eyes. She wrapped her arms around his neck and rubbed the side of her face against his chest, muttering in a softened voice, "Sleepy."
[1] Raw: 咸 [xián] So the character used here is “salty” but it can also be used for ‘stingy’ or ‘miserly’... Another homonym is “leisure” [闲] which could translate to him implying (through pun) that he’s “too free/idle” given someone else is fighting him for things to do. I would like to think it’s this latter interpretation.
[2] Hahaha… I actually don’t remember whether they were filming a movie or a drama… Excuse: given that I have been jumping back and forth with this novel, etc. Hahaha… If any of the readers remember, leave me a comment please~
